                         Dear Friend

I thought I would write you a few lines
To let you know the reason I altered my mind
I received a lettr [sic] from my Mother stating she had
rented a house in Buffalo & wanted me to have
Josephine come they thought it better for her to get in a
school & she is the only friend that I have to depend
upon I was much [illegible] with the situation
of my little girl she was very sick last knight [sic]
& had a fever and I was afraid to leave her I had
made up my mind to leave her for a few weeks
I feel happy to day with my children I freely give
up my husband but I cannot part with my
children I will exert myself for a living as long
as I have strength to do so if my husband feels
disposed  to throw off the responsablity [sic] of doing
for his family. I trust we shall be provided for
I go where I have friends  I have not influenced
the Children against him  I have encouraged
Charles to stay in the County  I thank you for
your kindness to me and in taking an interest
for my child and may you be rewarded
for this is the sincere wish of a friend
and well wisher
                                Nancy A Hassey
