About the Project

The Post Family Papers Digitization Project seeks to digitize all of the materials in the Post Family Papers housed in the University of Rochester Library. This work will be undertaken by undergraduate and graduate students, so that they may develop a greater understanding of how the local actions of one family impacted national movements.

The first phase of this project launched in September 2012, highlights relationships that Isaac and Amy Post developed among nineteenth-century activists: Frederick Douglass, Susan B. Anthony, Elizabeth Cady Stanton, William Cooper Nell, Harriet Brent Jacobs and the Fox sisters.

The second phase of the project will focus on familial relationships explored through the hundreds of letters that the members of the Post family exchanged between the 1830s and the 1870s.
